New Mexico Concealed Carry – Defensive Draw & Engagement Course

The Defensive Draw & Engagement Course is an advanced, live‑fire training program designed for New Mexico Concealed Carry license holders who want to build real‑world defensive capability beyond the basic certification. This course focuses on safely, efficiently, and legally drawing from concealment and delivering accurate defensive fire under realistic conditions.

This class reinforces the responsibilities of armed self‑defense while developing the student’s ability to respond decisively during a lethal‑force encounter.

Course Objectives

Students will learn to:

• Draw from Concealment Safely & Efficiently Master clearing garments, establishing a firing grip, and presenting the handgun without muzzling yourself or others.

• Build a Consistent Defensive Draw Stroke Step‑by‑step development of a repeatable, reliable draw sequence from holster to target.

• Engage Threats at Defensive Distances Close‑range accuracy, retention shooting concepts, and rapid threat acquisition.

• Manage Malfunctions Under Stress Immediate‑action and remedial‑action drills while maintaining situational awareness.

• Move with Purpose Lateral movement, creating distance, and using angles to your advantage.

• Reholster Safely Controlled, deliberate reholstering with full awareness of surroundings.

• Understand Legal & Practical Considerations When drawing is justified, de‑escalation, and articulating your actions after a defensive incident.
